History:

The Bavarian state opera is built in the classicistic style.The first construction phase was from 1811 to 1818. Reconstruction in 1820 – in 1825 after fire destruction.Reopening in 1963 after destruction during the 2nd world war.

Repertoire: The repertoire belongs to the most varied ones of the international opera-houses. Within a playing time more than 30 different opera productions from five centuries are shown, in addition, ballets, concerts and song evenings.



Short description:

In 1653  thanks to the höfischen tradition found a native country. Since 1653 the opera in Munich reflected her society-political and music-historical development in this town in worldwide unique manner. The Bavarian state opera contributes with yearly over half a million visitors and more than 350 images - beside ballet and opera, song evenings and concerts - decisively to the call of Munich as one of the big international cultural towns.
